Wintour Gettin' Jiggy With It

When I stumbled across this picture I felt it was only fair that I share it with you all… it is one of the single most bizarre pics I have ever seen…The queen (bitch) of the fashion world Anna Wintour getting down with her bad self with none other than……………………. P Diddy!!! How random – Who knew she actually had a fun side?!

So, where did all this madness go down?

At the uber fabulous Met Ball – one of the biggest fashion events of the year… This year, Wintour was donned in an exquisite full length Chanel gown and embellished metallic silver jacket, also Chanel – it’s a known fact she rarely wears anything but…. Anywho, while on the subject of the well known ice queen (or in the politically correct words of Wikipedia the ‘emotionally distant’) Ms Wintour I thought it was only right to have a quick look at the fashion legend…

Anna Wintour OBE, editor-in-chief of American Vogue is regarded as the single most powerful person in the fashion world. A position she has held since 1988, Wintour’s word is quite literally taken as gospel in the fashion universe, and if a young designer gets the Wintour nod of approval you can pretty much be sure the designer will make it to the big league…

If you haven’t already seen The September Issue, I STRONGLY recommend you get viewing it ASAP, I’ve watched it at least ten times and I absolutely love it! Described as 1!!! The fly on the wall documentary gives us an inside view of how the fashion world really works- its total fashion porn!  Not only do we get to witness the rigorous process of getting the biggest ever issue of Vogue being put together (Fall 2007), we see the tempestuous relationship between the fabulous Grace Coddington and Wintour; the uber camp Andre Leon Talley in head to toe Louis Vuitton tennis gear (I can’t help but adore that man); Wintour slating Oscar De La Renta’s work; bad mouthing Sienna Miller and single handily making young designer Thakoon’s career – throw in some ridiculously fabulous designer gear, some shuddering fashion assistants, John Galliano, John  Paul Gautier, Vera Wang and Mario Testino for good measure and you’ve got the masterpiece that is The September Issue.
Renowned for her trademark bob, massive shades, glazed ice queen look,  and typical unenthused folded arms pose while sitting front row at fashions weeks across the globe, Wintour has always been thronged with fascination and indeed controversy.. Among other things her pro fur stance, her somewhat elitist views towards fashion and beauty, and her notions on obesity (she reportedly called Oprah fat), have all meant that controversy and in turn huge media interest have always been part of her life. Wintour came into mainstream radar with the release of ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ which was based on the book by her previous assistant Lauren Weisberger. With Meryl Streep playing the bitch from hell boss Miranda Priestly, ‘loosely’ based on Wintour…

Without a shadow of a doubt, we can be sure Anna Wintour will go down in fashion history and her legacy will long out live her.

You are right about The September Issue – total fashion porn. We have watched it so many times it’s shameful! While Anna is the obvious central character in the documentary, it is Grace Coddington who steals the show in our opinion. It’s great to see her relationship with Anna and the other staff.

GRACE CODDINGTON is a hero. She stole the show in the Septmeber issue. I love her!

Yeah totally in love with Grace Coddington. Total visionary and totally down to earth! Love the no-make-up look – ‘I am Grace and I DON’T CARE’

  • aideenf

Grace was the true star of that movie. i fell in love with her. i wanna take her out for dinner

  • aideenf

also i think anna gets a hard wrap for being cold. i think she’s just professional. too many people are too emotional in the work place. i’d way rather work for her or kelly cutrone than i would for someone like… i dunno, tyra “little tear” banks

  • becks

Exactly we come to work do our shit and get out. Thats employment – leave your feelings at the front door. Obviously that does not extend to work mates who bully you etc but work is not the place to worry about someone hurting your feelings.

  • Naomi

Agree with you ladies – Grace is total legend. Not so sure I agree with Wintour being solely professional! No need for total hard ass bitchiness in the work place… trust me I have experienced it and its not nice. Rather work with/for someone who has some element of a heart rather than Cutrone/Wintour esque animals!
