It’s that time of year again – Halloween. Typically known as a festival season for children; however, more recently an excuse for manys’ a mentally well adult (and some surely not so mentally well?) to dress up in whatever costume may take their fancy*.Women seem to have a particular tightrope to walk on this occasion of occasions. We all like to get our Sexy On of a Saturday night, Halloween being no exception. This does not mean however, that one must mangle ‘sexy‘ & ‘child’s play’ by wearing sexy costumes in very small sizes. The tried and tested ‘legs or boobs’ (but not both) rule still applies people! Other considerations include the extortionate (and disproportionate) expense of Halloween costumery – flimsy and flammable…not something you could call an investment. Furthermore, even though you are paying almost as much for a Halloween costume as you could for any high street outfit, do not expect any of the bonuses of regular clothing, such as warmth, cover, or pockets… (where are you supposed to put all your trick or treat sweeties?)

Maybe a plain outfit and a flamboyant mask or head piece is more up your street? Another idea to get the ball rolling for the more frugal and fashion minded is dressing up with a particular era in mind (e.g. the 80s). Era-inspired dressing is particularly attractive as what goes around, comes around.

Whatever you get up to enjoy your celebrations, dress up if you will, but be warned – there is nothing more nightmarish than an oversized, oversexed puss-in-boots.
*This must be why it’s called fancy dress?! No?
