Lovely Lita

Not a friend of cobblestones

I think I’ve caught wind of a Secret Shoes Club. You know the girls who ‘knew about them first.’? These Jeffrey Campbell Litas seem to be enjoying a moment in the spotlight. And deservedly so. They’re eye-catching, their shape is unmistakable and when you see them, you know who designed them. The unexpected part is the price. They seem to be retailing online for between $160 and $200. Not too shabby. Unfortunately, they’re so popular, it appears they’re sold out nearly everywhere. Well done Jeffrey! You’ve gotten people majorly excited about a mid price shoe.

if they're good enough for rumi neely...

Here’s a pic from Rumi Neely’s blog Fashion Toast where she’s sporting them (sitting down though eh?) Now, she’s a model, so it’s little wonder she pulls off the look so well. They’re not going to suit everyone, BUT they have major leg-lengthening capabilities so if you don’t mind hoiking yourself up on stilts, you’ll probably fare pretty well with these.

kudos for tackling the tricky terrain

Here’s Iris from Fashion Zen. Now I’m wondering was she already in the Secret Shoes Club or did Jeffrey send her the shoes? (I’d wager Rumi got them for free.) Not that that matters sooo much. If you like them, you wear them yeah? My spidey sense just wont stop whispering to me that perhaps the Jeffrey PR team are targeting bloggers. But that’s fine too. I’m not buying into these totally. I like the look of them, but am under no illusions that these babies fall into the category of ‘Don’t wear these if you know you’re going to get shit-faced.’

That’s despite the label’s web site claim that ordinary women “on the street… on the subway” are the inspiration for their designs.

Fair enough, but you aint been thinking about the women who have to negotiate cracked pavements, cobblestones and those little bumps at traffic lights.

Hmmm it sounds like I’m giving out about them. I do still think they’re awesome…
