All camelled out of it

SOOOOOOOO is anyone else a bit camelled out of it?  Everywhere you go, every store you frequent there is an array of beige coats, macs and jackets bearing down on you. Now don’t get me wrong.  As a “young professional” a smart camel/black coat is a must have. However, if everyone is wearing a camel coat this season won’t it be a bit too beige (or in other words – blah?).

Like Lorna McG – I LOVES the X(MAS) Factor. I love the sparkly dresses, thick opaque tights and high heels.  I love ambling down Grafton street in big coats with matching mittens and scarfs.  I embrace Winter because, as a pale freckly stereotypical paddy, the summer and bare are not my friends. But most of all I love the cacophony of colours seen over Christmas – especially going home and checking out the style at Midnight Maas or on Stephens’ Night in your local.

But this year it seems likely to be a bit of a washout as everyone will be in the ubiquitous camel coat.

So I want to start a rebellion. I say OUT with Camel and IN with Colour. AND I have found the place to buy the perfect coloured coat.

Marks and Spencer – Don’t laugh I know your Ma shops there.  But they are knocking it out of the park this season and in practical terms, Marks and Sparks are reasonably priced and nearly always machine washable.

Okay -its orange I know. But will FAB-U- LOUS over your little dresses with black tights. Also the cut is fantastic and it would go well with jeans too.

The ruffles on this are a real eye – catcher and its quite a statement piece for just over a €100 in Ireland.

Its PINK…but what can I say -  Barbie is a style icon of mine.

Red Faux Fur – Completely impractical? Of course.  Fabulous? Absolutely.

So I say don’t blend in with the beige this season.  Stand out – how else will Santa find you?
