Sale Rage

Cause you and I know its all over the front page – January gives me sale rage

I don’t get the whole January sale buzz.  Maybe when I finally admit defeat and accept I am a grown up and need to furnish a house I MIGHT want to queue outside Clerys all night for a Smeg fridge but at the moment the whole thing leaves me cold.  I don’t get the frenzy of the rushing in on Stephens day as  I am too full of food from the day before and the last thing I want to do is start trying on clothes.
This year however I was over in Engerland before New Years and thought I might venture to the shops and see if I could find some bargains.  DISASTER.  What is it about the word sale that makes shop managers insist on dragging out every spare rack from the stockroom and throwing them in the middle of the already crowded shop floor and putting all available sale clothes out without rhyme or reason.  The whole process is exhausting.  Within in about five minutes I was exhausted and sore after being elbowed by several bargain hunting teenagers so I vacated the sale area and the never ending pile of lamé sequined boleros that I had never actually seen before and of course ventured into the new stock area. Within about five minutes I had about 10 things I wanted to buy all at full price.

I picked up this amazing leopard print dress.  I love Peter Pan collers and thought it worked well with the more dramatic leopard affect.  I then styled it with patent pumps and a headband for an alternative Alice in Wonderland look for NYE.  I then realised I had fallen foul of what is clearly a marketing tool by the shops i.e. put so much trash on the sale rail that people are forced into buying the new stock.

So next year I think my new years resolution will be to avoid the shops till February and/or all lame/sequined/ruffled boleros are safely locked away in the stock room for next year.
