As a film, Tron Legacy was bloated, leaden and sluggish. The plot was unnecessarily convoluted, the dialogue was cringey and the viewing experience was more about endurance than enjoyment. Granted the Daft Punk soundtrack was phenomenal and the graphics were indeed awe-inspiring (at times), but the real winner was the fashion. LED suits and dramatic collars and capes for the men; architectural heels and form-fitting catsuits for the women. The make-up consisted of ghostly metallic hues, alabaster skin, piercing blue eyes and razor sharp eyeliner. Asymmetrical haircuts, severe regal buns and ramrod posture completed the look. The theme was ethereal sci-fi, but the tone was restrained drama – easily replicated at home. It’s amazing what a scraped-back bun can do for your cheekbones. Towering shoes, some gunmetal eyeshadow, a structured collar and a muted canvas in grey – Tron-tastic. Now the next step is to adopt the gliding, sliding, panther-like stalk of the Tron ladies. Pretty sexy…but pretty ridiculous if you get it wrong.
