There’s a lot of hoo-ha about Sky Atlantic and the onslaught of must-see, best-thing-since-Sopranos, new dramas. Eulogizing and hyperbole aside (how much money are Sky pumping into this venture? And why did they decide to wheel out Tom Selleck?), there is one irrefutable point to note. Boardwalk Empire is riddled with fashion. Yes – we have the prohibition, the gangs and the sleazy politicians (the best bits!!) – but we also have The Fashion. We have wanton headpieces, layers of pearls, decadent scarfs, heaving fur and jaunty little hats everywhere. Ladies for the season that is nearly upon us – weddings, engagements, garden parties and those annual barometers of style – the Race Meetings, check out the assortment of headgear in Boardwalk Empire for inspiration. Oh that, and the compelling narrative arc that is almost on par with the incisive and searing commentary in the Wire. Best Thing Sliced Bread.
