Aussie Fashion

So, what does a girl wear to Fashion Week?!!

I am so EXCITED peeps, I have been chosen by Australian fashion website Style Bungalow to attend Fashion Week next week as their official fashion correspondent! Sorry let me re phrase ‘excited’, is a complete understatement – I am over the moon, I am giddy as a kid at Christmas, I’m literally counting down the hours!
Apart from my obvious brief of reporting on the shows I’m attending, I have been told to and I quote ‘dress to kill, clutch a great bag and ensure I rock some killer shoes’…. Jees talk about putting pressure on a girl!!! Where do I even begin planning that outfit?!!
I’m going to the following shows;
Rachel Gilbert: Established Australian designer. The queen of the ballgown and cocktail dress. Her collections are all about luxury embellishments exuding glamour and undeniable femininity. Princess Beatrice wore one of her dresses to the royal pre wedding dinner!

Sarah Phillips: Another established Australian designer. Her stuff reminds me of Topshop Unique. It’s slightly edgy, cool with a hint of bohemian. Alot of reworked vintage pieces, stunning prints, with beautifully soft tailoring and luxurious fabrications, creating a very romantic look.

None the Richer: This is the one I am without a doubt most excited about. This label is only in its infancy and wow is in one to watch!! It’s chaotic, it’s quirky, it’s almost Lady Gaga esque…this season sees head designer Ulyana Bezeruk focus on the 1040′s and 50′s with fitted waists, structured silhouettes and full hips.  It’s all about ‘more is more’ ideology and piling on the accessories. The label is described as a David Bowe song ” a little bit pop, a drop of rock, a dash of glam, a sprinkle of grunge, a splash of mess and it will make you feel like dancing in the street’!! Renowned for its outlandishly sexy ad campaigns and provocative looks this is the show I am most EXCITED about!!!  I will keep you posted!

Guanabana Designs: This ethic infused label is all about relaxed glamour with a very distinctive bohemian allure. The ethnic and cultural influence across the collections is undeniable…

Wonders Cease: Set up in 2008 by two young friends, this label is very much on the up…The ethos is feminine tailoring with a grunge twist. Pieces are vibrant, yet preppy. The goal of head designers Maryanne Edwards and Emma Fitzgerald was to create a label that is boutique exclusive yet financially accessible making the wearer feel fashion forward yet timelessly chic.

Blessed are the Meek: This label was launched in 2003. To give an Irish perspective, the label reminds me Reiss in ways…sexy detailing with sophisticated cuts creating an effortlessly stylish look.

I’ll be sure to keep you all posted on how it goes… wish me luck!!
