What does Nicola Roberts wear?

So, Nicola Roberts, ‘that red-haired one’ from Girls Aloud is launching a solo career. This excites me. Let me tell you why. Firstly, Diplo and Switch are producing her sound. Diplo of Major Lazer and M.I.A fantastic collaboration shizzle. Dirty, beat-y, bass-y, sweaty pop I am reckoning. Have a little listen below.

Secondly, I have a right girl crush on Ms Roberts. Intrepid entrepreneur – her make up range Dainty Doll for the pale beauties among us is a roaring success, and I’ve heard she’s wicked smart playing the property game. Or at least has a few investments. Not difficult when you earn a pretty penny just for leaving your front door, but she could have fallen into a drink, drugs and plastic surgery stupour like many of her peers. So I admire and respect her seemingly savvy ways.

On a completely unfounded tangent, I like her because she seems nice. Nice and normal and down-to-earth. Of course, she could be a RAGING BEATCH, but I’m gonna stick to my naive guns for the moment.

And finally, the real reason I heart her is because she has flippin’ AWESOME STYLE. Somebody give her a medal. And a chest to put it on. Seriously. Why hasn’t Cheryl packed her in her suitcase and brought her over to LA with her? There is not enough days in the month right now to deconstruct Ms Cole’s awful and heinous and criminal approach to fashion. But surely she could have gotten Nicola on board to style her over yonder?

There’s no real single theme or style to label Ms Roberts – it was kinda granny-kitsch for a while, and then a bit retro-vintage and then a bit glamourpuss…but ultimately, she’s a real goer – she’ll try anything and always makes it work for her. Makes it work for her and her pale skin and her red hair. Pink suit, red hair? Wham, bam, thank you mam – she pulls it off. Mustard as fashion forward? Roberts makes it so. See-through chiffon, boobs on show, all done demurely? Roberts gots it down.

Possibly, the most impressive and endearing fact about Roberts and her rebirth as fashion ingenue, is having to emerge from the tacky, shiny, corseted shackles of Girls Aloud. Girl bands and their colour-coordination and emphasis on Tits and Ass make it very difficult for an ex-member to launch themselves as a credible fashion player.

But I believe Roberts wins this round. Go on you and beat that drum.
