Beyonce apparently feels the end is nigh. The apocalypse is coming, annihilation is imminent; the skies have darkened, mutiny is everywhere - but fear not! Queen Beyonce shall fight it with her army of girls who Run The World. Using some fierce tribal dancing, a sample of Major Lazer’s Pon de Floor track and a random stallion, Beyonce and her crew are ready to get dirty. Beyonce invokes the power of her strong, female ancestors through fierce, pointed shoulders, mirrored bodysuits, bear-fur and layers of baroque jewellery.
Flippancy aside, this video gives me shivvvvvers. The costumes are literally awesome; jaw-dropping, fantastical, and totally evocative of an end-of-the-world scenario. Couple this with some criminally clever choreography and an excellent underlying track…well suffice it to say, I wanna be part of Beyonce’s gang. If you haven’t watched the video yet, tell your colleagues you’ve been given notification that the end of the world is upon us, blow this up to full screen and clear space on your desk for the inevitable drool.
