Well I am back. After several weeks away from the blog due to a disturbed laptop, a heinous wisdom teeth operation and a cold & throat infection I have returned. I did make the most of my time on sick leave to take a dander into town and visit the new vintage shop in temple bar – Shotsy. I met the lovely Lisa and Katie two cousins who decided to set up a vintage shop in the midst of the recession very ballsy!
I had a very enjoyable afternoon chewing the fat over the vintage scene in Ireland with them and very nicely seemed to ignore my post wisdom teeth chipmunk face. The two girls have had an interest in vintage fashion from way back when. Their grandmother was a seamstress who saved tons of her clothes. The girls used to raid her wardrobe. Once Katie moved to London and they both had full on access to the vintage scene their wardrobes rapidly expanded (while I think their wallets shrank) and their interest in vintage expanded further.
Once Katie returned to Ireland the girls got some their organisational mojo in order and spent a serious amount of time researching the area and getting a proper business plan together and finally after a lot of slogging – Shotsy was born.
I loved it – as a former London resident I love the vast expanse of vintage clothing that was accessible all over London. In Dublin while there is some fabulous vintage shops I often found them priced at the much higher spectrum and not accessible unless it was for a special occasion.
Well no more – what I loved about Shotsy was the range and variety of vintage wear from day dresses and cosy jumpers to full on evening wear it was all under one roof. The prices were also more accessible – I saw some pieces starting from as little as €5.So if you just fancy a budget friendly winter day dress that’s a little bit different or an alternative look for an upcoming party or if you just want to have a chat to two friendly girls with a great knowledge of vintage clothing its definitely worth a pit stop.A great dress that could easily go from day to night with the right accessories
