Life can be so cruel. I mean you get up every morning, work for the man, pay your rent on time, donate to charity, separate your recycling, eat quietly in the cinema, dock your Dublin Bike near to the paystation, eat your 5 portions of fruit and veg a day…the list of virtuosity is endless. And your one weakness? That you covet things; pretty things, fashionable things, fancy things…things that will infinitely improve your life. But you lust and you lust and you crave and you lust and it all becomes impotent, useless rage because you Simply Cannot Afford It.
Case in point. The Joanne Hynes French Queen Neck Piece, spied on Style Tonic is a thing of unreserved beauty. It is statement, it is stately. It is magnetic and detailed and delicate. And above all, it is Irish. I love supporting Irish fashion, but it is rare I can afford it. I have lusted after this piece of grungy opulence for months now, quivering and dithering, rationalising and budgeting…wondering would the TV License man write off the fee should he be greeted with this beautiful collar at the door (if the stern advertisements are anything to go by, that would be a resounding NO).
Ultimately, I had to just let go and move on. T’was a sad day.
And then something unbelievable happened. The kinda thing that makes getting up every morning and working for the man and paying your rent on time so much easier. A friend bestowed it upon me as a present. A gift! A gift sans ties or expectations or returns or stats figures…a gift in the truest sense. I am giving something to you which I think you will enjoy. Bonkers.
So I am now the proud new owner of an outstanding piece of Irish jewellery that shall be worn round-the-clock, bathed in a glow of pride, gratitude and awe.
