Diet Coke: Tee Shirt Bling Fling
What with the recent spate of sunshine in Ireland…the characteristic pre-summer confusion leading to post-summer anti-climax (what happened? where did it all go?), the streets of Dublin witnessed an assault of t-shirts. The basic tee is an absolute classic in the Irish wardrobe arsenal…you can whip it out when we get some unseasonably warm weather without having to commit to a full summer wardrobe. Likewise, throw a few layers on top when you start to feel a nip in the air.
Thing is, fashionistas gotta exploit this trusty canvas wherever and whenever and however possible. That generally means blinging a tee up with some statement jewels. And the Irish accessory designers have a smorgasbord of jewelled delights to choose from. You can go high fashion with one of Joanne Hynes outrageously beautiful collars - the definition of show-stopping. Hynes has also released a series of neckpieces at a lower price point and the focus is more fun and irreverent – flapper dolls and leather robots dangle from long chains. Designer Yvonne have a series of crochet necklaces that are divine and delicate and perfect for imbuing a simple grey tee with some elegance. Or take a look at Capulet and Montague at Atelier 27 – the multi-rope cord necklaces in an array of flouro tones look awesome dangling on a plain t-shirt. If street-wear is more your thIng, check out Cianán Doyle’s collection of graffiti-inspired jewellery. His gold tag neckpieces are heavyweight bling.
So crack out your t-shirt and your neckpiece, apply some sun-cream and get stuck into that 99!
