Guest Post: Huzzah! More Neon! (the trend that keeps giving!)

We all know by now that neon isn’t gonna go away quietly, so take this opportunity to begin frantically buying anything neon you can get your hands on. It’s not like neon is easy to pull off though, so you need to bear some points in mind before you step out the house in full on raver gear.
First it’s worth warning you all that neon is addictive; like smoking, once you’ve bought that first pack, it’s gonna be hard to quit. So keep your habit in check and limit yourself to essentials, don’t go crazy and end up with a rave in your wardrobe. Let’s face it, in 6 months neon is going to be cast out of the fashion world along with wedge trainers and dip-dye hair, so we’ve gotta make the most of this wonderful time we have left together.

(Side-note: don’t buy more than one pair of wedge trainers unless you’re really small and they serve a genuine purpose.)

Some colours are easier to pull off than others, so if you wanna go all out, invest in orange, pink and blue, but stay away from green and yellow – you only need one item in this colour, because:  a.) Everyone is definitely gonna notice if you wear it twice in one week (mare) and b.) It’s the most difficult colour to tone down when neon falls off the fashion radar. The other colours can be worked into a dull outfit to brighten it up but there’s no way you can stop neon yellow burning the retinas of everyone around you. I know you don’t want to hear it, and I don’t want to say it, but we can’t depend on the Runway Gods to keep these bright colours on trend for as long as we’d like.

Everyone’s gonna tell you to stick to accessories, but where’s the fun in that!? Yeah, sure, go ahead and buy all the neon jewellery you want, but nothing’s gonna scratch that colourful itch like the real deal. Enter: neon jeans. Do it. You know you wanna.

If you’re really too chicken to go all out, start small but be aware that you’re expected to up your game pretty quickly. Ease yourself in with some smaller details, like the piping on this dress, and work your way up to super strength (read: neon yellow).
