Boot Scootin’ Confusion

The Deandri Helga in Snakeprint

The Deandri Helga in Snakeprint

So, apparently these are THE shoes for the summer. Solestruck has declared it so, and Solestruck knows a Jeffrey Cambell winner or two. These wooden platform boots are from a Los Angeles company called Deandri and come in a range of leather patterns and prints.

My question is this – are they actually boot-tastic or are they just a pair of clodhoppers? To my eyes, this Helga range looks awkward, clumsy and uncomfortable. Not least a tad sweaty for when the temperature creeps up. But then, what do I know? We’ve had ugly-pretty, ugly-ugly, ugly-kitschy, ugly-ironic…I mean those creeper shoes – I could just not get on board with those. So perhaps I’m not the best barometer of taste?
